LIFE HISTORY OF DR. RAJENDRALAL DUTTA

 

Dr. Rajendralal Dutt is also known as father of Homoeopathy in India. Dr. Dutt was born in 1818 in famous Dutt family of Wellington square, Calcutta. He got his Medical degree from Calcutta Medical College and hospital and he started practicing allopathy in Calcutta city. Once he was treated for chronic disease by a Homoeopath. There after he developed interest in Homoeopathy.

For establishment of Homoeopathy, Dr. Rajendralal brought Dr. Tooner who was a French doctor and he opened free clinic and hospital in Calcutta. But this hospital did not last long and Dr. Tooner did not prove himself as a good Homoeopath. In 1861, Dr. Dutt decided to do Homoeopathic practice.

A landmark in the history of India was the year of 1863. When Ishwarchandra Vidhysagar was treated by Dr. Dutt for his chronic illness which was not treated by allopathic physician at that time. Another remarkable cure by Dr. Dutt was of Raja Radhakant Devbahadur for his chronic illness with Homoeopathic medicine. This cure makes a great sensation in Calcutta city. Dr. Rajendralal Dutt was fully convinced of the efficacy and usefulness of Homoeopathic medicine. As such he was always on the look out for a suitable person to take up.

He converted Dr. Mahendralal sircar to Homoeopathy. Dr. Rajendralal Dutt was expired at the age of 71years on 5 th June, 1889, after giving a bright future to Homoeopathy in India.
